Overview
The Nurhara clan is a Manchu surname recorded in Volume 62 of the official genealogy of the Manchu clans of the Eight Banners, compiled during the Qianlong reign. The genealogy explicitly states that their original place of origin is unknown, and the family of Sirtaqi, listed as belonging to the Bordered Blue Banner, does not specify the year of their submission. Sirtaqi himself served as an infantry officer, and his son, Kutanbao, served as a cavalry officer; the official records of both father and son can be confirmed separately.
Both infantry officer and cavalry officer were military positions in the Qing Dynasty, but belonged to different branches of the armed forces. The infantry system was responsible for city gate guarding, patrolling, and maintaining urban security, with infantry officers responsible for leading and managing rank-and-file soldiers. Cavalry officers, on the other hand, participated in soldier management and horsemanship training within the Eight Banners' cavalry system. The fact that father and son held two different positions does not mean that Sirtaqi first served as an infantry officer and then rose to the cavalry officer position.
The Bordered Blue Banner was a banner-based status, not their ancestral home. The phrase "original place of origin unknown" preserves the compiler's judgment on the ancestral home information, and this information itself is part of the family history. The Manchu spelling of Nurhara, the specific positions held by the father and son, and the dates of their appointments are not included. This article does not infer their kinship with other famous figures based on similar names, nor does it supplement the original genealogy with the location of their ancestral home.
