Overview
Geniu: Geniu is a member of the Urguchen clan in Volume 51 of the *the Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*. He belonged to the Plain Red Banner, and his family had lived in Neyin for generations, submitting to the Qing dynasty at the beginning of the dynasty. The genealogy focuses on preserving two lines of military achievements by his descendants, but does not record Geniu's participation in these battles.
His grandson, Nieleku, participated in military operations in Shanxi as an Imperial Censor, and died in battle against Wang Pingfan's forces at Luomen Town. He was posthumously awarded the title of Yunqiwei (a military rank), which was later inherited by his son Hezhe and grandson Fuyong. Fushan, originally recorded as a "great-grandson," participated in the Dzungar War as a Guardsman, and died in battle at Hetong Hurhanaor. He was also posthumously awarded the title of Yunqiwei, which was inherited by his son Enet. These two hereditary titles with the same name are not from the same line of succession and should be recorded separately.
Imperial Censors were usually supervisory officials, while Guardsman was a basic military rank within the Guardsman organization. Their participation in campaigns is based on this entry; their general duties cannot negate the record, nor can it be concluded that all Imperial Censors served as battlefield commanders. Yunqiwei was a posthumous title awarded for meritorious service, distinct from any official position held during the individual's lifetime. The Wuerguchen clan was a Manchu clan, and the exact modern correspondence between Neyin and the two battlefields remains to be verified.
