Overview
Tabudai was a member of the Zhe'erde clan, belonging to the Plain Yellow Banner. His family had lived in Jiefan for generations and submitted to the Qing dynasty at the beginning of the dynasty. Volume 48 of the official Qing dynasty compilation, *the Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, records the different military achievements of his two sons, providing important material for understanding this family. The Plain Yellow Banner represents their affiliation within the Eight Banners organization, the Zhe'erde clan represents their clan, and Jiefan is their ancestral home; these three cannot be substituted for one another.
His eldest son, Gushan, served as a zuoling (military officer) and participated in the campaigns from Beijing into Shandong and Korea. He died in Korea and was posthumously awarded the title of Qiduwei (hereditary merit rank), which was inherited by his son, Fudali. Fudali received three imperial edicts and was promoted to Second-Class Qingche duwei (hereditary merit rank), after which Fuhachan inherited the title. Due to illness, Fuhachan resigned, and his younger brother, Fuxing, inherited the title. Fuxing's inheritance was stripped of the additional honors granted by the imperial edict, leaving him with the rank of Qiduwei (hereditary merit rank), which was then passed on to his son, Fuersen. The second son, whose name in the electronic text is Niyaha, participated in battles near Shimenkan, Huangcaoba, and the provincial capital in Yunnan as a seventh-rank official, and was awarded the title of Yunqiwei. The genealogy states that his great-grandson, Guande, inherited this title. The two branches have their own hereditary sources of office and cannot be combined into a single line of succession. zuoling was a banner officer, and the seventh rank only indicates the grade; Qi Duwei and Yunqiwei were hereditary titles. The last character of the second son's name, his place of origin, and the dates of the battles still need to be verified.
