Overview
Le Teng was a member of the Bayara clan of the Plain White Banner. The official Qing dynasty genealogy, *the Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, Volume 38, records that the family had lived along the Songhua River for generations, but the date of their submission is unknown. The clan title indicates the surname, Plain White Banner indicates organizational affiliation, and Songhua River indicates the ancestral home region; descendants holding imperial guard positions cannot be listed in reverse order, nor can Le Teng's own title be added.
His great-grandson, Nadana, served as a zuoling (military officer); Morchu as a First-Class Imperial Guard; Dapushou as a Second-Class Imperial Guard; and Xinggulda as a Third-Class Imperial Guard. His great-great-grandson, Badang'a, served as a Sanzhi Minister and zuoling; Jinbuli as a Second-Class Imperial Guard; and Sidebao as a Military Officer. Imperial guards participated in night watch and escort duties; Sanzhi Minister was also an official title within the imperial guard system and cannot be interpreted literally as a retired minister; zuoling was a substantive administrative position at the grassroots level within the banner.
His great-great-grandson, Zhele'erde, died in battle while fighting Galdan as a Second-Class Imperial Guard and was posthumously awarded the title of Yunqiwei, which was subsequently inherited by his son Bash and grandson Surfang'a. Yunqiwei was a hereditary title, while Surfanga held a separate position as zuoling; these two roles should be described separately. Fourth-generation descendants also held positions such as Chengshouwei, belonging to different individuals. The dates of submission, the Battle of Zhelerde, the location of the Chengshouwei, and the complete genealogy are yet to be verified.
