Overview
Yuechuohe was a member of the Sakda clan, a bondservant of the Plain Blue Banner, during the early Qing Dynasty. Volume 35 of the officially compiled *Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners* records that his family originally resided in Deliwohe, and that they submitted to the Qing Dynasty at the beginning of the dynasty. His grandsons, Su Dengyun and Tiezhu, served as sixth-rank bondservant officials. Su Mudai, as a deputy general, defended Yueqing County and died in battle against Geng Jingzhong's army, receiving the posthumous title of Yunqiwei, which was inherited by his son Haide and grandson Su Changning.
bondservant were a specific social class within the banner, and a sixth-rank bondservant official included both administrative and rank information; they cannot be simply translated as ordinary employees. A deputy general was a military officer, and Yunqiwei was a posthumous hereditary title. The location of the defended city, Yueqing, was not the same as Yuechuohe's ancestral home in Deliwohe.
His great-grandson, Gaohun, served as a youji (military officer), and Haibao served as a sixth-rank bondservant official. His great-great-grandson, Etuhun, served as a third-class guard and concurrently as a zuoling (banner-company commander). Guards served as attendants to princes and nobles, while zuoling managed local household registration and military records; both positions were held concurrently. The military positions of the deceased grandchildren and descendants of the deceased are not attributed to the individuals in question.
