Overview
Tali was a member of the Fuca clan of Feiyou City under the Bordered Yellow Banner. His family had lived in Feiyou City for generations, but the year he submitted to the Qing dynasty is unknown. The official Qing dynasty genealogy, *The Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, Volume 25, records that his son, Hesiheli, served as a scribe, and Huase as a Qiduwei. His grandson, Duluntai, participated in the campaign against Galdan under Zhaomodo, earning the title of Yunqiwei, which was inherited by his son, Tulan. Other descendants held positions such as infantry captain, doctor, physician, and ceremonial attendant. The original genealogy also states that Tali was related to the local Xiahu and bondservant Anchuhulu. Defense, Qiduwei, and infantry captain were different military ranks, and Yunqiwei was a hereditary military title; these should not be confused with hereditary privileges. Doctor was a position in Qing dynasty official records, ceremonial attendant involved guiding ceremonies, and scribe handled Manchu and Han documents—their duties differed. The fact that the clan records span different banners and bondservant statuses does not mean that Tali himself was a bondservant, nor does it mean that the three were brothers of the same generation. The official position of Tali himself is not mentioned in the biography, and the military merits of Zhaomoduo belong to Sun Duluntai; the specific location of Feiyou City, the institution to which the doctor belonged, and the term of office of each generation still need to be supplemented by the original engraving and other archives.
