Overview
Zhuobai was a member of the Tongjia clan, Plain White Banner, whose ancestral home was Macha. He was of the same clan as Baduli Zhalguqi and submitted to the Qing dynasty at the beginning of the dynasty. Volume 19 of the official Qing dynasty genealogy, *The General Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, records that he himself served as a military officer. His eldest son, Zhuoerhe, served as the chief steward of the imperial mausoleums. Zhuoerhe's son, Feiyanga, was originally a scribe, who died in battle against the Dzungars at Hetong Hurhana'er and was posthumously awarded the title of Yunqiwei, which was inherited by his son, Sahalian.
The military officer managed the lower-ranking soldiers of the military, while the chief steward of the imperial mausoleums managed related personnel and affairs. The scribe handled Manchu and Han documents and archives. Feiyanga participated in military activities as a scribe, and the record of his death cannot be changed to indicate that he had previously served as a military commander. Zhuobai's fourth son, Guodun, served as a censor and commander, and the original genealogy clearly states that he held both supervisory and military positions; a censor participates in auditing, investigation, and related administrative affairs, and this concurrent position cannot be omitted. The title of Yunqiwei was a posthumous hereditary honor bestowed upon those who died in battle; it was not a title already held by Zhuo Bai himself. This family record preserves the multi-generational distribution of guard, mausoleum, surveillance, and clerical positions.
